Research Interests
Dr Hamweemba’s doctoral research at Swansea University was on Performance Management in Zambian National Healthcare Organisations and was supervised by Professor Nick Rich who is a leading expert in Lean Socio-Technical Systems research. She is particularly interested in research designs that look at what factors influence employee engagement, quality and efficiency in healthcare organisations (but is neither restricted to the healthcare sector nor the country Zambia) to result in low and high performance through HRM practices such as Performance Management and resultantly, contribute to evidence based policy making that improves healthcare services.
Her interests include performance management, quality management, healthcare management, people and learning. As a socio-technical systems researcher (meaning that she argues that an optimal blend between technology, processes and people results in higher performance), she is fascinated by case study research of Low and High-Performance organisations and what underlying mechanisms, relationships and processes cause the variations in performance.
