SUMMARY OF THE LIBRARY RULES AND REGULATIONS

 

  1. MEMBERSHIP:
    • All NIPA registered students who have paid the minimum approved tuition fees are eligible to become patrons upon registering with the library.
    • All NIPA full time members of staff are eligible to access the library. However, they can only borrow materials from the library upon registering with the library.
    • Part time members of staff are not eligible to borrow materials from the library but can do so through their Head of Department and colleagues.
    • Members of the public are eligible to become patrons of the library upon meeting the stipulated conditions, payment of the prescribed membership fees and subsequent registration with the library.
    • Existing internal patrons (students) and external patrons of the library are only eligible to access the library with valid paid up membership.

 

  1. GENERAL RULES:
    • When entering the library and borrowing library materials, a patron shall produce their NIPA identity card.
    • Where applicable, a patron shall use his/her NIPA identity card to borrow a book from the Short Loan section or Open shelf.
    • Loan period for short Loan section is 3 hours during the day, and overnight from 15:30hours to 10:00hours the next day. Weekend borrowing is from 15:30hours on Friday to 10:00hours on Monday. Any overdue will be charged at K2.00 per hour or part thereof.
    • Loan period for the open shelf collection is 3 weeks. Any overdue will be charged at K2.00 per day.
    • It is the responsibility of the patron to take care of any library material borrowed. Quickly report any loss or damage of library material to the Librarian.
    • Strictly no eating or drinking in the library to avoid introduction of cockroaches and other insects which may destroy books.
    • Patrons are not allowed to take calls in the main reading spaces but can do so from the Phone Zone areas within the library.
    • Patrons are not allowed to spend more than 30 minutes in the Library Lounge to give chance to others.
