NIPA staff from Workers Union

NIPA staff have finally signed the much awaited union agreement. The signing ceremony took place on 22nd March, 2021 in the discussion room.

Staff have worked for close to three years (since August, 2018) to actualise the NIPA Staff And Workers’ Union (NIPASAU).

The interim Union will be headed by Library Assistant, Mr Zoba Banda who will serve as Union President until official elections are held.

“I am happy to state that all deliberations leading up to this day had the blessings of council,” said NIPA executive director, Ambassador Professor Royson Mukwena in his congratulatory speech to the union.

Prof. Mukwena disclosed that the signing of the recognition agreement will entail more shared communications and enhanced dialogue between management and staff.

And Mr Banda said that he was delighted that the union had come to fruition.

“We wish to thank NIPA management team for the guidance given during the process of the union formation and for allowing this to come to reality; your positive willingness to see the inception of NIPASAWU cannot be overlooked and we are very grateful for your supports,” he said.

“As workers’ representatives of labour matters in the institute, it is our desire to always provide a positive voice for our members. Our wish is to have a harmonious relationship with management so that together we can have a motivated staff that can contribute to the growth of the institute of choice,” he added.

The interim committee will remain in office for the next six months after which an elective general conference will be held.

Ends.
