NIPA hosts news editor’s, journalists

On the 2nd of March, 2021, NIPA hosted News editors from various news houses for a Power Lunch. The Power Lunch was followed by a two-day Media Training dubbed: “Emerging reporting trends in the Era of Covid-19/New normal”. The Media Training Workshop took place on the 03rd of March to 04th March, 2021.

The purpose of the two events was to raise awareness about the Institute’s product and service offerings and to increase media engagements.

During the events, the attendees were enlightened about the Institute’s products and services and got an opportunity to interact with the NIPA CEO, Ambassador, Professor Royson Mukwena.

The journalists from selected media houses were trained on:

  • “Reporting Trends in the Era of COVID19”;
  • the difference between ‘Misinformation’ and ‘Disinformation’ in reporting on the global pandemic, COVID19;
  • about the health preparedness of the country and the work with the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit in responding to the pandemic;
  • COVID19 and Environmental Concerns;
  • and Entrepreneurship and E-Government.

Prof. Mukwena stunned the journalists and their editors when he disclosed NIPA’s self-financing model.

The Institute received positive coverage of the events.

It is hoped that the Institute can host many such similar engagements with the media in the future.
