RCDD trains Legal Board staff.

National Institute of Public Administration (NIPA) was contracted to design and deliver a four days’ induction workshop for Legal Aid Board (LAB). The focus of the induction was Corporate Governance, Financial Reporting and Audit and Risk Management.

A total of 15 participants were inducted, comprising of the board members and LAB management team. The training was coordinated by RCDD staffer, Dr Lucy Nyundo and facilitated by three seasoned and reputable facilitators namely; Dr. Hapenga Kabeta, Mrs. Deklphine Luswili and Ms. Claire Limbwambwa.

The four days’ workshop run from 22nd to 25th March 2021.

(LAB) is a statutory body mandated to provide legal aid in both criminal and civil cases to persons without means to pay for legal services. The services provided include legal advice, legal assistance, and legal representation.  In carrying out its functions, the Legal Aid Board relies on funding from the Government of the Republic of Zambia and Cooperating partner such as the European Union and the Federal Republic of German.

LAB is governed by ten (10) Board Members led by a Chairperson who is assisted by a Vice Chairperson. The daily operations of LAB are managed by the Managing Director who is supported by the Chief Legal Aid Counsel, Manager Human Resource and Administration, Finance Manager and Senior Internal Auditor. Given that the responsibility of a Board is to provide oversight of the Management team, it was necessary to induct the new board members and management team.
